Hybrid and electric vehicle sales up 80.4 percent in March

Mexico, Jun. 13 (Notimex).- The Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA, for its acronym in Spanish) reported that the sale of hybrid and electric vehicles in the country registered an increase of 80.4 percent during last March, compared to the same month of the previous year.

The agency announced that in the third month of the year 1 thousand 140 units were placed with this type of technology, of which 119 were hybrids and 21 were electric.

It added that in the first quarter of 2017, 2 thousand 488 units were sold, an increase of 179.6 percent over the same period in 2016.

Mexico City was the entity with the highest proportion in the commercialization of hybrid and electric vehicles, with 42.4 percent participation, followed by the State of Mexico with 15.7 percent.

In turn, Jalisco participated with 5.9 percent; Nuevo León 4.7; Puebla 3.2; Michoacán 2.5; Oaxaca 2.4, and Querétaro with 2.3 percentage points, while the remaining percentage corresponded to other entities.
