Mexico, Jun. 14 (Notimex).- Infiniti Engineering Academy captured 50 percent of the world's engineering recruitment applications in Mexico, which represents a record for the country in terms of number of registrations.

Infiniti Engineering Academy Director General Infiniti in Mexico, Philipp Heldt, reported that during the call for the global recruitment program for automotive engineering and motor sport he obtained 12,020 records, of which almost 6,500 were captured by Mexico.

In this edition, students from 41 countries showed their interest in the Academy, which will hold the final this summer in each of the seven participating regions; Asia and Oceania, Canada, China, Europe, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Mexico.

He said that last year in Mexico, Infiniti Engineering Academy contributed with one thousand 352 registrations, which represented 35 percent of the global registrations and in this second edition in the country, Mexican students contributed with 6 thousand 484 registrations, "more than half of global applications, which demonstrates the great talent that exists in the country."

The project, he said, offers the most ambitious experience for an engineering student and "what has been very surprising for the organizers is capitalizing on Mexico's engineering talent, which has allowed us to have the highest call."

The manager announced that as a next step in the call, this unique program in the industry invites 10 finalists to participate in engineering tests in which the winner of Mexico will be decided.

The names of the finalists will be announced on June 12 and among them will be chosen the winner who will work six months at the Infiniti Technical Center in Cranfield and another semester in Enstone, with the Renault Sport Formula 1 team in the United Kingdom.

The final of the competition this year will be held on June 25 and 26, and the winner will be announced during the second day of the event to be held in Mexico City.

The winner of the 2016 edition of Infiniti Engineering Academy, Alex Paleologos, advised those interested in participating "to study in depth key subjects" such as Statics, Materials Mechanics, Materials Science, Electronics, Vehicle Dynamics and Fluid Mechanics.

He also suggested highlighting the experience outside the classroom as the beginning of the degree in industry and developing social skills, both for teamwork and decision making.
